The Dharavi Project

  india 332

You have just watched a video about the Dharavi project. What do you think about it?

Try to give a balanced opinion :

"While I agree that ... I still think that ..."

"Although some might argue that ... I feel that ..."

"Despite the problems concerning....I still think that ..."

" (argument 1). However/Nevertheless (counter-argument 1)"

"I'm not sure what to think: on the one hand I feel that ...but on the other hand..."

"As Maxime said....Yet I feel that ..."

"I partly agree with ...when he says that ..."

To me, the Dharavi's project is a good idea. It lead homeless people to have a small appartment although they could not pay it by themselfe. Netherless, there are some problemes with it. Firstly, the can not going on working as they used to do because it is inapropriate to do that indoor. Secondly, they will manage to pay the bills, even more if they don't work as before. So if the Dharavi's people can find a job after, this project is very good, that will help them to reach their target wich is have a job and live better. But if they don't there might be issues about he bills, buying food...

I still think that Dharavi's project is a good concept. It would allow habitants of slums to insure them a better life with permanents houses, free water and electricity, if they agree to build offices. However, only one hundred families will be authorized by the government to live in their new home. The others families will be forced to evacuate the place and they will build a new slum outside the city because they haven't got any money. Problems will not disappear; they will move with the population, it's a vicious cycle because the city will always attract people who hope their dreams come true. For me, this solution is not enough radical or effective.

I do not know what to think: on the one hand, I think that all this is good for poor people to be able to live in better conditions, notably with electricity but on the other hand it will not cost them dear and Finally they will not be able to live there. While I agree that this will give a new face to its cities, I still think that this is done to bring tourists and have good conscience
