Franco Zeffirelli's 1996 version

Cary Fukunaga's 2011 version:

What can you find in common (story, themes, ...)?

Did you catch some of the characters' names?

The main themes are passion, impossible love story, secrets and a hard childhood. In both trailers, Jane Eyre might had a hard and very strict childhood. Then she became maid and might fall in love with her master. In the second the atmosphere is very gloomy and dark.

In the 2 trailers, it's a love story between Jane Eyre ,a maid, and Mr Rochester. At the beginning of each trailer, we can see the complicated, difficult and loveless childhood of Jane Eyre, and her escape from the place where she lives. In the 1st one, it may about courage and independance and in the 2nd one, it's more supernatural, it could be more frightening.

The main characters must be Jane and Mister Rochester. The story may deal with love, the role of the woman during the victorian period and the different kinds of relationships between relatives and between lovers. Jane might have been beaten as a child, then she sought refuge in a haunted place where she works as a governess for the master of the house Mister Rochester. In both trailers the atmosphere seems supernatural and lugubrious.

The themes must be about love, tragic love story, torments of childhood, secrets and social status. In my opinion, Jane Eyre is the story of a young woman whose name is Jane Eyre ; when she was a child she may use to be tormented by her mother. In the trailers, we learn that Jane Eyre is a poor governess who meets a man called Mr. Rochester, the master of the house where she may have taken refuge. At that time begins a probably complicated love story between them, complicated because of their different social status.

both trailers may deal with passion, love, obscurity and madness. the story might talks about an impossible love story because of the oppositon between the two social statut's protagonists at the Victorian period. <br /> the second trailer seems such more dark than the first one, and deals probably more about darkness, ambiguity and passion than the other one.
